Sandpits provide valuable play and learning opportunities for children, but it's crucial to address potential health and safety risks associated with their use:
Quality of Sand
We exclusively use sand specifically designed for play, sourced from reputable suppliers to ensure its suitability and safety for children.
Regular Sand Changes
We change the sand regularly with new batches to uphold cleanliness and prevent the accumulation of contaminants.
Adequate Drainage
Our sandpit is equipped with proper drainage to prevent waterlogging, which can create a breeding ground for insects. Damp sand can attract insects that may pose risks of biting or stinging children.
Spill Cleanup
Any spilled sand is promptly cleaned up to prevent hazards and maintain a tidy play area.
Covering the Sandpit
To deter animals such as cats from using the sandpit as a litter tray, we ensure it is covered when not in use.
Supervision
Children are closely supervised while playing in the sandpit to ensure their safety and address any potential risks promptly.
Eye Protection
We educate children on the importance of keeping sand low to avoid it getting into their eyes or the eyes of others, promoting safe play practices.
Sun Protection
If parents prefer their child to wear a hat while playing in the sandpit to protect against sun exposure, we encourage them to inform us so appropriate measures can be taken. Please see Sun Safety policy for further details.
By implementing these safety measures, we aim to create a secure and enjoyable environment for children to explore and learn through playing in the sandpit. Our commitment to maintaining high safety standards ensures that children can engage in these activities with confidence and peace of mind.
