Admission

At Daffodil WLC, we strive to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families and children in our community. We adhere strictly to the Child Minding and Day Care (Wales) Regulations 2010 and National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare, in this case, Standards: 1: Parents have all the information they need to make an informed choice about the childcare service they require, and Standard 3: All children have their needs and preferences identified and their parents know how these will be met.

We believe in treating all children and their families with respect and dignity, as outlined in our Equal Opportunities policy. Regardless of race, religion, sex, or ability, every child and family are valued and welcomed into our setting, where the Welsh language plays an integral role in our daily interactions. We are dedicated to promoting equality and diversity, and we endeavour to meet the individual needs and abilities of each child.

Our service is designed to accommodate a range of needs, including children and families with additional learning needs. We work closely with parents to understand and address these needs, creating a supportive environment where every child can thrive, while also fostering a love for the Welsh language.

To ensure transparency, we provide parents with clear information regarding our maximum ratios and age ranges. For example, we may care for a maximum of 10 children in total, with no more than 6 under 8 years old and no more than 3 under full-time school age. We also consider the presence of our own children within these ratios and maintain a waiting list for future admissions.

We offer a 'Croeso' visit for parents/guardians and children to facilitate mutual acquaintance and introduce them to our Welsh language immersion approach. Additionally, we discuss and agree upon a contract for each child, ensuring that parents are fully informed and have copies of relevant policies, procedures, and permission forms.

We will offer 2 half price sessions as a settling-in period, which is tailored to meet individual needs, both the childminder and parents assess the child's transition into our setting, with a focus on their integration into our Welsh language environment. We believe this period is essential for evaluating the suitability of the arrangement for all parties involved.

We gather as much information as possible about each child's needs and preferences from their parents through discussions, questionnaires, and child record forms. We also offer home visits or open days before admission to help families feel more comfortable with us, showcasing our Welsh language immersion activities and resources.

To ensure parents stay informed about their child's daily activities, we utilise a Whatsapp group, which offers a comprehensive portfolio of photographs and videos. Both the childminder and parents can utilise this app to exchange messages, fostering transparent communication and reassurance to parents. Furthermore, we integrate updates and activity notifications into our communications through the app.
